The presidential elections in the United States caused a lot of noise and provoked a number of reactions. There are a number of celebrities who have left X since the election of Donald Trump. Committed and politicized, certain celebrities did not hesitate to make their dissatisfaction known by going to the social network.
The recent election of Donald Trump as President of the United States has had numerous economic repercussions. What his new minister of “government efficiency” did not foresee is that these consequences also ricochet on him. Elon Musk, Donald Trump’s new best friend, was very present during the Republican candidate’s campaign, not hesitating to invest more than 75 million in his comeback.
Before fulfilling this invented function, Elon Musk is above all the boss of several companies. Tesla, SpaceX but also the social network X. By buying Twitter in October 2022, the entrepreneur has not only changed his name. He also attacked the certification system, the algorithm, and even remuneration. These modifications were, for the most part, very poorly received by users (with the exception of the “community notes”, which were quite appreciated) leading to a first wave of departures towards competitors.
Platforms such as Mastodont, Threads, or BlueSky have thus emerged, on which users have set their sights. It is obvious that X is still currently far ahead of these new applications in terms of presence and active accounts, however, the recent election of Donald Trump and the role played by Elon Musk have led to a second wave of departures. Among the deserters, many celebrities have expressed their desire to clear the floor without failing to specify the reasons for this departure.
Head for the blue sky or the green lawn
Armed with their thumbs, several stars wrote for the very last time on their X profile, notifying their fans and friends of their departure for BlueSky or Threads.
- Stephan King
Stephen King, renowned for his online interactions with literature enthusiasts, announced his escape from X: “I left Twitter. Eleven years old, man. It’s really changed. It got dark. He has since been on Threads where he does not mince his words regarding Donald Trump.
- Barbra Streisand
Effective immediately, any comments I post will be on Bluesky. #TwitterExodus https://t.co/DZOXQAJoWA

- Guillermo del Toro
On November 10, four days after the results of the polls, Guillermo del Toro announced to his community his gradual departure from BlueSky. Very active on X, the director seems to have already taken the new platform well, with currently more than 180 publications.
This will stay mostly unused (drop in on ocassion). I will be more and more at BlueSky @realgdt.bsky.social. Stay Well.

- Mark Hamill
It took Mark Hamill two weeks to decide on his departure from X. Finally, on November 19, the man who plays Luke Skywalker in “Star Wars” spoke on BlueSky: “Now that I’ve fled Leon’s site for bluer skies, I’m sure I’ll be called an #Ex-X, but personally, I’ll always consider myself a #TwitterQuitter.”
