Early Life
Dave Chappelle was born in Washington D.C on 24 August 1973. His father William David Chappelle III was a dean of students and a vocal performance professor at Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio. His mother Yvonne Seon worked as a minister for Congolese Prime Minister. She also served as a professor and administrator in various institutions.
Chappelle spent his childhood in Silver Spring, Maryland and went to Woodlin Elementary School. His comic inspirations were Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor. He studied theatre arts at Duke Ellington School of Arts and graduated in 1991.
Career
First appearance of Chappelle was in America’s Funniest People of ABC on 13 September 1990. After graduating from school, he moved to New York City to achieve his dreams and performed at Harlem’s Apollo Theater.

Personal Life
In 2001, Dave Chappelle married with Mendoza Erfe. The couple has 3 children, two boys and a girl. Names of his children are Ibrahim Chappelle, Sulayman Chappelle and Sanaa Chappelle. They live near Yellow Springs, Ohio on a 65 acre farm. At the age of 17, Chappelle converted to Islam. In an interview with Time magazine he says:
I don’t normally talk about my religion publicly because I don’t want people to associate me and my flaws with this beautiful thing. And I believe it is beautiful if you learn it the right way.
